OGAB® RAIL Advanced TRS®

Ogab® has achieved a 22.34% reduction in drag force whilst making our trains kinder to the environment. Powered by energy that would otherwise be lost, our Advanced TRS® technology yields an 11% reduction in fuel consumption helping to cut C02 emissions and significantly reduce running costs.

The majority of inter-city transportation of passengers is via trains. As a result, rail transport is responsible for a significant portion of both fuel and electricity consumption as well as CO2 emissions.
Class 220 Voyager trains, which are used in large volumes across Britain’s railways, achieve speeds of 130 miles per hour as a result of their streamlined body. The trains need to be as aerodynamic (minimal wind resistance) as possible.
With Advanced TRS® we can achieve a 20% reduction in drag forces. Consequently, these trains can achieve faster speeds, further reducing travel time of this transport while saving energy and lowering emissions.
At Ogab®, our Active Flow Control drag reduction system has led to substantial reductions in drag force with the value of 22.34% mitigated for a Class 220 Voyager type train.
This results in a 22.39% reduction of the drag coefficient for a train compared to those without our Active Flow Control technology.
